This is one of the latest additions to the Siebert Optics Binoviewer line. This unit has a 22mm clear aperture and is virtually identical in dimensions to the BW Optik binoviewer. It only weighs 1lb 6ozs. Optics are multi-coated for excellent light transmission. All optical components are guaranteed to be of the highest quality. With the 1.8x OCA corrector this unit performs, in terms of light throughput and optical quality, as good as any 26mm aperture unit under $1000. The corrector has optical properties that maximizes light throughput in these units. Read about the Max light 1.3x - 1.8x OCA correctors on the OCA/barlows page for a full explanation of the performance enhancing characteristics of this optical corrector. ( The only disadvantage of 22mm prisms in this case is roughly a 10% reduction in apparent field on eyepieces 30mm's and higher. But using a set of 21mm-24mm superwides no discernable field reduction is seen. So when using a set of 24mm wide angle eyepieces light throughput and apparent field will be comparable to a 26mm unit at the same magnification when using the 1.3x and 1.8x correctors. This means that low surface brightness objects such as 9th and 10th magnitude galaxies are an easy target in magnitude 5.5 skies. Yes, the combination of these units and the optical corrector is that good. Once again the OCA page has full information on just how good and versatile this little one piece OCA is and it never needs to be separated for use in a refractor. Remember this is an OCA not an OCS. These binoviewers come with an inner ocular distance of 55mm's-75mm's. They are threaded for filters at the bottom. They not only perform excellent on deepsky, but planetary images are razor sharp. When using these binoviewers, the optical corrector and 24mm 65 deg. eyepieces, I was easily able to zero in on the Whirlpool Galaxy on my 10" dob. At just over magnitude 9 this may have been considered a difficult or impossible target for a binoviewer with this prism size with most other barlows. But this formidable combination makes magnitude 10 quite doable. even under less than dark skies. These binoviewers are also compatible with our 2" 1.3x universal OCA. Although the 1.8x has been fine tuned for this unit and will give slightly better light throughput for the given magnification. Remember this is an OCA not an OCS .

Also available is a .6x Focal length reducer for SCT's. It works well with eyepieces up to 32mm's giving them unusually low magnification potential. Also improves the quality of under corrected eyepieces. This special unit does very similar to the OCA above in that it focuses the objective image to a fine beam which maximizes light throughput when using 22mm clear aperture binoviewers in SCT's enhancing brightness while at the same time producing almost 1/2 the magnification of the eyepieces used.

Black Night binoviewer w/aluminum self-centering eyepiece sockets. These come with " self-centering eyepiece holders and give a perfect fit for your 1.25" eyepiece barrels regardless of the barrel diameter variations.
